My name is Angela Carlson and I am currently a senior interior design student at Endicott College in Beverly, MA. My love for interior design began at an early age when I would tag along to job sites with my dad who is a contracter. I would always look forward to going to a new job site and checking out the interior and the seeing the way the homeowners would decorate their homes. I was lucky enough to grow up in a home where my parents were constantly remodeling and so I  was always able to put my design skills to work and this helped inspire me to pursue an interest in interior design.  I have worked on numerous projects over the years and have met tons of inspiring people along the way. My knowledge and love of the interior design world continues to grow everyday with each new experience.

In high school I lived in my art classroom and spent most of my time taking architecture and design based classes. My junior and senior year of high school I took part in the Connecticut HBA Student Home Design Competition where I won a grant for my high school as well as the Rookie Award for the competition one year and the People's Choice Award the next. Now as a senior Interior Design major in college, I have been awarded a Presidential Art Scholarship and am involved in ECID (Endicott College Interior Design Club) which is a student chapter affiliated with the ASID. I have studied abroad in Florence, Italy where I had the amazing opportunity to learn in the heart of where some of the greatest architecture was created. That experience is something I will always carry with me and has opened my eyes to bigger opportunities in the design world.

I have been fortunate enough to land three internships in the past four years for design firms in Connecticut which allowed me to network with fellow designers and show my potential in the field. I have interned for a furniture store which offered interior design services where I learned about the business aspect of design as I worked alongside the owner/ head designer. At my other internship I interned for a sole proprietor/ designer out of Hartford whom I worked closely with and acted as her assistant. I worked on various projects during my internship and took on important responsibilities. Each experience has further confirmed my career path and enhanced my love for interior design. I am now employed by my latest internship at a design firm in West Hartford, Connecticut where I am the firm's social media coordinator and interior design assistant. These internships have shown me what it's like to work for a growing interior design firm and the types of responsibilities and interior designer is responsible for.

As for my future, I am always looking for new opportunities and experiences to broaden my knowledge and ability. My goal is to work in the hospitality design industry designing either hotels, restaurants, or retail spaces.. I am highly motivated and love taking on new projects and challenges. My ultimate dream is to be able to design for a large deign firm where my designs can inspire lots of people and help make a difference in people's environments and promote well-being through the use of universal and sustainable design. I want to become an innovative designer whose designs help shape the design industry in a positive way.
